Honoring Army MSG Marcia J. Triggs
AFN Bavaria
May 6, 2022 | 23:09
U.S. Army Master Sgt. Marcia Jeanne Triggs was one of the top Non-Commissioned Officers in the Public Affairs field. This video is a compilation of tributes from family, friends and colleagues sharing their thoughts to mark American Forces Network Bavaria (Germany) changing its station name to "The Master Sergeant Marcia J. Triggs Broadcast Center."

Marcia graduated from O’Fallon Technical High School in 1990. She then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism (Mass Communications) from Southeast Missouri State University in 1995.

On May 15, 1995, Marcia joined the U.S. Army, and she remained on active duty until she passed away. She worked for the Army as a military print journalist and a public affairs specialist with assignments that included the US Army Combined Arms Center in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas from 1995 to 1998, and the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii until 2001. Her following assignment was as a news correspondent for Army News Service at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. She also worked with the Office of the Chief of Army Public Affairs (OCPA) at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 and she spent a year on the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee helping publicize the military’s involvement in the 55th Presidential Inauguration.

In 2005, Marcia traveled to Vilseck, Germany, where she had a great impact on her Soldiers and community as the Station Manager for American Forces Network-Bavaria.

Marcia deployed to Iraq twice with the 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. She was the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge for the OCPA regional office in Chicago, Illinois, which develops public Army support, community outreach and media engagements across 16 states in the Midwest.

In April 2011, Marcia represented the U.S. Army at a Chicago White Sox baseball game where she was recognized for her service in Iraq. She was highlighted as “The Hero of the Game,” and that her focus “is to involve U.S. Soldiers in the community so civilians can meet the quiet Heroes who protect our Nation’s Freedom.” Marcia’s greatest impacts are the leadership, pride, and professionalism she imprinted upon those who knew her, as well as the importance of treating others well while living a life of positivity.

Marcia passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011. Eleven years later, on May 6, 2022, American Forces Network Bavaria honored her legacy by naming the station "The Master Sergeant Marcia J. Triggs Broadcast Center."

AMC — The Army's Materiel Integrator

The U.S. Army Materiel Command develops and delivers materiel readiness solutions to ensure globally dominant land force capabilities. Headquartered at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, Army Materiel Command is one of four Army Commands. AMC synchronizes and integrates the Army's total capabilities in support of the Chief of Staff of the Army’s priorities and Combatant Command requirements. As the Army’s Lead Materiel Integrator, Army Materiel Command manages the global supply chain, synchronizing logistics and sustainment activities across the Army.

AMC Priorities

People

Army Materiel Command's roughly 165,000-strong military, civilian and contractor workforce is the command's greatest resource and the core of the command's support to the Warfighter. With People as the Army and AMC's top priority, the command is responsible for four of the Quality of Life initiatives set by the Chief of Staff of the Army: Housing, Child Care, Spouse Employment and PCS Moves.

Readiness

Army Materiel Command continues to synchronize, integrate and operationalize its capabilities, providing installation and materiel readiness to meet current and future requirements. From managing the Army's Organic Industrial Base to increasing supply availability, AMC ensures Soldiers have the equipment and materiel they need from the installation to the forward tactical edge, strengthening Army readiness.

Modernization

Army Materiel Command logisticians and sustainers are fully embedded within every Army modernization effort and initiative, ensuring sustainment is considered early in the development phase, and driving supply chain and sustainment efficiencies in lockstep with planned improvements and upgrades to equipment. AMC is the lead for divesting legacy systems, freeing up space for new equipment, and for modernization of Army installations and strategic power projection capabilities worldwide.

Mission

Army Materiel Command delivers precision sustainment and materiel readiness to an expeditionary global force from the Joint Strategic Support Area to the tactical point of contact across the spectrum of conflict in support of the Joint Force.

Vision

Army Materiel Command is the premier enterprise postured to support a global Joint Force with predictive and precision sustainment.
